Secret chats One of the nagging issues I have with WhatsApp is its extremely limited text editing features. For example, if someone sends a message, you canβt select a part of text from the message. You will have to copy the whole message and then edit it out in the small text field which frankly is very annoying. However, Telegram has brought a great way to select and copy a part of a message. Tap and hold on a message to select it first and then again tap and hold to select your part of the message. Thatβs ingenious, right? A further privacy blunder is that Telegram notifies your contacts when you join it β unless you donβt give it permission to access your contacts. The app doesnβt warn you itβs about to ping your contacts, and thatβs a big caveat for those who want to use Telegram to keep a low profile.
To change your default folder, press and hold a folder in your chat list > Reorder > and drag your preferred folder to the first space. The company also makes its API publicly available for free and invites developers to create clients on other platforms. Users can also create custom bots, themes, stickers, and more free of charge. That would be lead to provide more benefits when accessing your Telegram chat from different devices you have. Telegramβs core functionality is the same as most other messaging apps: You can message other Telegram users, create group conversations, call contacts, make video calls, and send files and stickers. However, there are a few specific features that make it work differently from other chat apps.
Another useful feature is βsend without soundβ. It is rather self-explanatory: you can message friends freely when you know they are attending an important meeting, studying, or sleeping. Recipients will get a notification as usual, but their device wonβt make sound, even if it is in general mode. When multiple users share their live location within a group, theyβre displayed on an interactive map. To use this feature, choose βlocationβ from the attachment menu and tap on βShare my location forβ¦β Similar options are available for sharing your phone number and profile photo. You can also select who can add a link to your account when forwarding messages, who can call you, and who can add you in groups. On WhatsApp and other messaging apps, you can send uncompressed media by changing the media extension to something like PDF or EXE. However, on Telegram, you donβt need to take this hacky route for sending uncompressed media files. Just select your media and tap on the 3-dot menu. After that, choose βSend without compressionβ and that is it. How awesome is that? This single Telegram trick has saved me so much headache when sharing photos.
However, with new Telegram updates, they provide two-step verification for your telegram account. That means if you want to login to telegram on another device, itβs required your two-step password to log in. You can also set up it from the Privacy and Security list as I mentioned above. Since Telegram stores chats and files on a remote server instead of your device, you can also access everything (except secret chats) from the web. Access it via the web portal or any of several Chrome extensions.
